The Musical Theater Village was so much fun!

I forget how exciting live theater can be!

Musical Theater Village in Irvine  You could feel the fun as soon as you walked in the doors of the Musical Theater Village in Irvine.

I wasn’t expecting much. In fact I was not even totally sure what I was doing there. Yet there I stood in a business complex that is the home of the Musical Theater Village. I suppose I was there because I was following my own advice. And I have to admit the results were amazing! I haven’t had that much fun in a long time.

It all started at a business meeting when I asked David Anderson what he did for FUN. He said he was having a great time playing Buffalo Bill in Annie Get Your Gun at the Musical Theater Village. I flashed back to my high school drama days. Those were good times, and for years I’ve been saying that I should get involved in community theater. I have an actor friend and every time he does a show I try to see him perform. Each show I enjoy myself and then wonder why I don’t go to more local theater. How come I don’t get involved? Well life gets in the way of life and it is always the fun things that get pushed aside. It’s too bad really because fun is important.

Hey wait a minute, I’m the author of “Grown-ups Don’t Skip Have FUN Be Happy Enjoy Life” so if I can’t make the time to add some fun to my life there is something wrong. Wasn’t I the one who wrote about the importance of saying “YES” and stop making excuses? To have more fun, you have to get out of your comfort zone and show up. So that is exactly what I did! I showed up at the Musical Theater Village and had a whole lot of fun. I left with a big smile on my face and a promise to return to see their next show The Music Man.

Annie get your gunThe Musical Theater Village is not your typical community theater

The Musical Theater Village is a non-profit, community-supported family adventure founded by Denise Fenton. They put on six musical shows a year with the purpose of showcasing the talents of whole families. Not only do brothers and sisters get to perform together, but there are plenty of parts for adults too. Mom’s and dad’s get to join in the fun. They even have multiple casts so everyone gets to participate on and off stage. Plus this allows people the time off they need to get things done in their daily lives.

Musical Theater Village The Musical Theater Village must be doing something right because they have been around for 21 seasons. And like I said in the beginning – you could feel the FUN as soon as you walked in the door. For more information visit their website or call (949) 753-1996

If you want to have more fun you have to get out and participate in the world. Go have some FUN! Get involved. Attend a show or volunteer your time.
